Moving to care home
If you find it too difficult to manage everyday life at home, you can apply for a place at a residential care home.
All assessments are carried out in accordance with the Social Services Act (Socialtjänstlagen, SoL). The Act regulates how the needs assessment is to be carried out.
The municipal department responsible for carrying out the assessment is called the Care and Support Department (stöd och omsorgsverksamheten).

The care assessment officer will then evaluate and determine whether you qualify for a place in a residential care home. The decision is based on your current needs at the time of application. You cannot apply in advance for future needs.
You have the right to access information that is recorded about you.

When the assessment is complete, you will receive a decision. The decision includes, among other things:

- the grounds for the decision
Appeal the decision
If your application is denied, you can appeal the decision. The decision you are sent will include information on how to appeal it.
